Call for Research Grant Application

The International African Society of Sciences (IASS) is calling on interested individuals to apply for its Research Support Grant aimed at researchers conducting impactful scientific investigations across Africa. 

This grant provides $500 in funding to support fieldwork, data collection, laboratory analysis, minor equipment, or publication costs for small-scale but high-impact projects.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be an undergraduate or early-career researcher (within 5 years of graduation)
  • The proposed research must be science-focused and address local, regional or national challenges
  • Applicants must be a member of IASS (Associate level or above)
  • Applicants must currently hold either a faculty position or a postdoctoral research position at an accredited academic or research institution.

Application Requirements

  1. Fill and submit the application form (to be provided)
  2. A 1-page proposal outlining the research question, objectives, methodology, and expected impact
  3. Brief budget breakdown (how the $500 will be spent)
  4. CV or academic profile (maximum 2 pages)
  5. A support letter from a supervisor, mentor, or department head.

Selection Criteria

  • Clarity and feasibility of the proposed research
  • Relevance to African scientific advancement or development
  • Potential for innovation and community impact
  • Appropriate and justified use of funds

Deadline: November 15th 2025

Successful applicants will be notified by email and announced during the IASS 2025 International Scientific Research Conference.
