About the Award
The International African Society of Sciences (IASS) is pleased to announce the CELKHA Award of Molecular and Computational Bioscience, a prestigious Research Excellence Award established to recognize outstanding career researchers who have demonstrated remarkable commitment and contribution to the advancement of science and engineering, with a special focus on the field of molecular and computational biosciences.
This award celebrates innovation, dedication, and excellence among emerging scientists in their field of study, whose work has significantly advanced the understanding of biological systems through bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular research, and data-driven scientific approaches.
A total of three (3) awardees will each receive a research grant of $1,000, in recognition of their scientific achievements, innovation, and potential for continued impact in their respective field of study.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Open to career researchers (typically within 10 years of their highest degree).
Be affiliated with a recognized university, research institute, or scientific organization.
Have published or presented original research in molecular biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, biotechnology, systems biology, or related disciplines.
Demonstrate independent scientific thinking, innovation, and measurable research contribution.
Be either an African national or a researcher contributing to science within Africa.
Evaluation and Selection
Entries will be reviewed by a panel of distinguished scientists appointed by the International African Society of Sciences (IASS). Selection will be based on:
Scientific merit and originality of publications.
Relevance and impact of the research on molecular or computational bioscience.
Demonstrated leadership or innovation in research.
Application Requirements
Applicants are required to submit the following:
Curriculum Vitae (CV) including current affiliation and list of relevant publications.
Research Summary (maximum 1,000 words) outlining the focus, methodology, and significance of the applicant’s research.
Statement of Contribution (maximum 500 words) describing the applicant’s individual role and scientific impact.
One letter of recommendation from a supervisor or senior colleague.
All documents should be compiled into a single PDF file and submitted via email.
